Description
Alexandria was the capital of Egypt for about 1000 years. It was built by Alexander the Great in 331 BC and it lasted during the Roman era until 641 AD when the Arabs came to Egypt.
You will visit:
- Roman-style tombs, the Catacombs
It's the only style we have in Egypt. The main tomb dates back to the 1 century.
- Pompeii's Pillar
Dates back to 284 BC built by the Roman ruler of Alexandria for the Roman Emperor
- Bibliotheca Alexandria
It was built in the same place in which we had the old library of Alexandria. It is a new building Egypt started to build it in 1988 and it was inaugurated in 2002. You will visit the reading area, the Museum of Anwar Sadat the former president of Egypt 1970-1981
- Fortress of Qaitbay
It was built by the Mameluk Sultan Qaitbay in 1477. It was built in the same place in which was built the Lighthouse of Alexandria.
Itinerary

- Early morning I will pick you up from your hotel around 06:30 AM. The distance is 225 km it takes about 3 hours to arrive to Alexxandria, and in the midway we will do a stop to use washrooms or drink coffee. we will arrive to Alexandria by 10:00 AM
- Roman-style tombs, the Catacombs
First of all we will visit the Catacombs, which are the only Roman-style tombs in Egypt
- Pompeii's Pillar
- Bibliotheca Alexandria this is the new one which was inaugurated in 2002
- Fortress of Qaitbey which dates back to 1477 AD and it was built in the same place in which was the Lighthouse of Alexandria
- After that, we drive back to Cairo by 15:30-16:00, then we will arrive to your hotel by 18:30-19:00.
