Day 01

Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, and Angkor Wat Discovery

• Connect with your tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel to begin the tour.
• Spend the day visiting the UNESCO-listed Angkor complex, considered the gateway to this vast archaeological site. As you travel by private vehicle, learn about the symmetry and composition of the ancient temples built during the Khmer Empire.
• Upon arrival, pay the entrance fee to the park, then set off for the royal city of Angkor Thom and its centrepiece, the Bayon. At first glance, the stone towers may seem like shapeless masses, but a closer look reveals the enigmatic faces of former King Jayavarman VII sculpted in every direction. A short walk away are Baphuon Temple and the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform for the king to welcome back his victorious army.

What to bring

• Visiting the temples requires all visitors to follow a respectful dress code. Wear pants or skirts long enough to cover your knees and a shirt with sleeves covering your shoulders. Singlets or tank tops, mini skirts, short pants, and sleeveless shirts are not allowed for entry to some places. Comfortable sports shoes are recommended, and you should bring an umbrella or raincoat during the rainy season (May-November).
• Professional commercial cameras or video equipment require an approval letter from the authority. Otherwise, they are not allowed inside.
• The sun's UV rays are generally strong year-round in Cambodia, so we recommend bringing necessary sun protection such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
