Wander the scenic trails along the Iskar River, visit the nearby stone houses, and explore the famous Prohodna Cave, known as "The Eyes of God." You will also visit the rocky Monastery of St. Nikola, dating from the 13th-14th century, with the option to enjoy boating on the river.

The itinerary

Day 01

Geopark Iskar-Panega, Prohodna Cave and St. Nikola Monastery

Connect with your tour guide at the meeting point to begin the day's itinerary.
Leave Sofia at around 9 am and arrive at the Zlatna Panega eco trail at approximately 10:30 am.
Take a walk along the Iskar River to the end of the path. See river life and enjoy the beautiful trails and nature for around an hour.
Optional: rent a riverboat and sail along the river, reaching the floating house and spotting river birds.
Explore the nearby stone houses and enjoy the beautiful view with a cup of coffee or tea for 30-40 minutes.
Have a picnic lunch at a gazebo with a spectacular view. (1 hour)
Then, visit and learn about Prohodna Cave. (1 hour)
Optional: walk through the forest to the upper point of a mountain hill and enjoy a fantastic view. (1 hour)
Next, visit and learn about the rocky Monastery of St. Nikola. (1 hour)
Finish the trip with an evening meal and taste typical regional food.
Drop off in Sofia at around 6 pm.
