Plečnik's UNESCO Creations in Ljubljana
- We will start in the vicinity of the Central Market with a Plečnik building that is mainly forgotten, yet has a namesake building in the USA. Then we will get to know the first UNESCO World Heritage Site on our way: a magnificent, long, white building where you can find many traditional and local foods. We will look inside and see some unique places.
- Right next to the market is the world-famous Tripple Bridge. Not only will we walk over it, but we will also uncover many secrets that can be read if one looks carefully.
- Next is the Cobblers Bridge, one of the favourite bridges of local people. There is even a song dedicated to this bridge.
- Then, we visit the National and University Library. Many say that this is the best and ultimate work of Jože Plečnik, and it cannot be missed.
- See Congress Square - what started as a square for a Congress two centuries ago became Plečnik's work in the next century. This is where many of Plečnik's paths cross, and it also offers an incredible playground to explore Plečnik's fascinations.
- Lastly, Križanke - the last work that the greatest Slovenian architect did before his death - has secret corners, patios, and many stories. We even meet the architect himself here... in spirit and three dimensions.
- On the tour, the guide will reveal many minor interventions by architect Plečnik that most people would miss.
