Itinerary
-
Day 1- Cairo - Aswan
- Arrive at Cairo International Airport, meet & greet our tour representative and transfer to the railway station for train to Aswan.
Overnight on the train.
-
Day 2- Aswan
- Arrive at Aswan station and start the day by visiting the High Dam near Aswan, built in the 1960s. It contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The Dam is 11,811 feet long, 3215 feet thick at the base and 364 feet tall. Today it provides irrigation and electricity for the whole of Egypt.
- After that, we will head to the Unfinished Obelisk. This huge obelisk would have stood 140 feet in height, the largest even in Egypt, but, at the last stage, a flaw in the rock was discovered, and it was abandoned.
- The next place we will visit will be Philae Temple. This beautiful temple complex is one of the most picturesque in Egypt.
- After visiting Philae temple, we will transfer to Nile Cruise to check-in & overnight.
-
Day 3- Kom Ombo
- Enjoy breakfast and head to Abu Simbel temple (optional tour)
- Then, proceed to Kom Ombo to visit the Kom Ombo temple.
- Be back to Nile Cruise for lunch while sailing to Edfu.
- Upon arrival, we will be escorted by horse carriage to Edfu temple, the great temple of the falcon sky god (Horus), constructed between 237-278 BC in the Ptolemaic era to honour the site where Horus fought his uncle Set in an epic battle.
- Return to Nile Cruise & continue sailing to Luxor & overnight.
-
Day 4- Luxor
- After breakfast, we will visit the Karnak Temple, one of the most incredible ancient temples. The Karnak Temple Complex consists of several temples, chapels, and other buildings in the form of a village. For that reason, the name Karnak was given to this complex as in Arabic, Karnak means ‘fortified village.’
- Afterwards, drive to Luxor Temple, surrounded by mud-brick walls which symbolize the separation between the world and the sacred realm of the gods. The Temple’s design during the New Kingdom exhibited a set of common design features in the temple's construction.
-
Day 5- Luxor
- We will check out after breakfast & visit the West Bank.
- The next tourist place to be visited is the Valley of the Kings, also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings. Used as a burial chamber for nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, the Valley of the Kings was used for royal burials, their families, and their possessions. In 1979, it became a World Heritage Site.
- Then, go to the Temple of Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut was the only female pharaoh in the history of Ancient Egypt. She came to power during the New Kingdom after her father's death, Tuthmose I, and her half-brother and husband, Tuthmose II, who succeeded her father on the throne.
- Explore Colossi of Memnon, the only monument in Luxor that is not home-crafted as it was made in Cairo in the reign of Amenhotep 3 and moved across 700 km to stand at the city's entrance.
