Montreux Private Walking Tour with a Professional Guide

We start our tour with a stroll along Montreux’s gorgeous lakeside. The lake sports thirteen kilometer of promenade, but we will only walk a small part of it, don’t worry. It’s the perfect place to see the mountain views, all the beautiful floral arrangements and sculptures along the lakeside. From all sculptures, there is one that sticks out: the Statue of Freddie Mercury. A figure of the unparalleled rock singer has been at the waterfront since 1996, and serves as a reminder of the love Freddie had for Montreux. His fans honor him by placing flowers at his feet every day. After that we will see the Montreux Palace, one of the most prestigious hotels in all of Switzerland, having hosted many famous guests like Freddie Mercury, Richard Strauss, Michael Jackson and others. Next up is the Casino Barrière de Montreux. Originally built in 1881, it was rebuilt after a fire in 1971, immortalized by the Deep Purple’s classic "Smoke on the Water". Right next door we keep following the steps of Rock’n’roll history to see the Queen Studio Experience. It is a museum dedicated to the band Queen, inside what was once the Mountain Studios. Here Queen recorded many of its most famous albums, from the 70's until the death of Freddie Mercury. From here on we will start our climb to get to the Church of Saint Vincent and then the old town of Montreux (Vieille-Ville de Montreux), for a walk on the steep streets to enjoy the picturesque neighborhood and a bird’s eye view over the city. Now all we got to do is to get down to the lakeside, to return to our meeting point or be dropped off somewhere of your convenience in the city.
