Day 01

Dar es Salaam to Selous and Rufiji River Boat Safari

  • Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam Airport, you will meet your guide, who will drive you to Selous Game Reserve.
  • After about 5 hours, you will reach the Rufiji River that runs through Selous Game Reserve, which you will explore by boat.
  • During the 2-3 hour boat tour, you can see lots of hippos, birds, crocodiles, monkeys, smaller animals like lizards, and a beautiful sunset from one of the little islands or sandbanks on the river.
  • From these sandbanks, you can see the animals and enjoy a little stroll or a drink. There is nothing quite like the serenity of the river while the sun dips below the horizon.

Overnight stay at Selous River Camp.

Day 02

Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve and Stiegler Gorge

  • After breakfast, embark on a game drive. Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest game reserves in the world - it is even bigger than Denmark! It has a large number of wildlife such as lions, leopards, hippos, crocodiles, Masai giraffes, and many more. With a bit of luck, you can even spot the endangered black rhino or the hard-to-find East African wild dog. The Rufiji River, which ends in the Indian Ocean, crosses the entire reserve. Around this river there is a swampy area that crocodiles love. The Stiegler Gorge is a special attraction here. This is a gorge 100 meters deep and 100 meters wide. It is a lot quieter here than in the other parks, so you can enjoy a unique and undisturbed safari experience.
  • Selous is also one of the few national parks where you can go on a walking safari with an armed ranger. But even in the car, you can enjoy the landscape to the fullest and spot many animals. If you prefer this, we can arrange it for you.

Day 03

Private Safari Experience and Beho Beho Hot Springs

  • You can make another game drive or walking safari in the game reserve and visit the hot springs in the Beho Beho area in the morning. Your personal and experienced guide not only knows a lot about Tanzanian culture but can also tell you a lot about the beautiful national parks and sights of the country. So, do not be afraid to ask your guide questions - he will be happy to answer them all. This trip is an exclusive private safari so that you can enjoy your trip to the fullest.
  • You can also observe a specific animal or herd for as long as you like during the safari. You do not have to be considerate of anyone. Your personal guide will advise you during the safari so that your trip will be an unforgettable experience.

Day 04

Final Game Drive and Return to Dar es Salaam Airport

  • After a gorgeous final evening with fantastic food and an unforgettable sunset, today is your last day on your Tanzania safari. Depending on your flight, use your last morning to fit in a final, epic game drive.
  • Then your driver transfers you to the airport for your departure flight back home.
  • Is a 4-day Africa safari not quite enough? Extend your safari in Tanzania with a Zanzibar beach holiday or a once-in-a-lifetime guided Mount Kilimanjaro trek.
