Nairobi National Museum and Snake Park Sightseeing
Begin at Nairobi National Park, a wildlife preserve and major tourist attraction.
Visit the City Market near the city center, a small open-air market.
Drive through the large central city square, passing Nairobi City Hall, Kenya's Parliament Building, the Kenyatta Conference Center, the law courts, and the Mausoleum of Jomo Kenyatta.
Go to the Parliament Building, dating back to the 1930s, and see the statue of Jomo Kenyatta, needlework tapestries showing Kenya's history, and a mosaic of Kenyan tribes.
Explore the National Museum of Kenya, which contains discoveries from Tanzania's Olduvai Gorge and Koobi Fora in northern Kenya. Also on display are wildlife statues, plus a wide range of weapons, ornaments, and headdresses of various Kenyan tribes. Learn about Kenya's modern history through an extensive ornithological collection as well as contemporary art from across East Africa.
Visit the Snake Park, which has a variety of reptile and fish species. The reptile section is the oldest, with outside pit-type cages housing leopards, tortoises, white-throat monitors, and snakes.
