Shillong to Sohra via Waterfalls, Sacred Grove, and Caves
- Meet your tour guide and visit Sohra, one of the most beautiful parts of Meghalaya. There are many wonderful places to see in and around Sohra, and the drive from Shillong to Sohra will take almost the entire day, even though the distance is quite short. By the end of the day, you will have visited the following places:
- Elephant Falls: a two-tier waterfall in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. The mountain stream descends through two successive falls set in dells of fern-covered rocks.
- Mawphlang Sacred Grove: one of the biggest sacred groves in Meghalaya. It is a well-preserved forest protected by the local community. Nothing can be taken out of the forest, as it is believed to be protected by the local deities, U Ryngkew U Basa.
- Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint: situated very close to the Sohra tourist circuit, it is one of the famous places in Cherrapunjee to enjoy the natural beauty.
- Arwah Caves: located 3.5 km from Cherrapunji Bus Stand, this vast cave lies in the Khliehshnong area of Cherrapunji in Meghalaya.
- Nohkalikai Falls: the tallest plunge waterfall in India, with a height of 340 metres. The waterfall is located in Meghalaya, near Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth.
