Itinerary

Spend a day in the Ngorongoro Crater
- In the morning, take a two and half hours drive from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Gate and the Crater rim. Admire the magnificent view of the crater from the rim.
- With a diameter of 20 km, the Ngorongoro crater is the world's largest un-flooded volcanic caldera. An amazing site created 2 million years ago brought to the collapse of an enormous volcano, reckoned to be larger than Kilimanjaro. Today the crater contains a microcosm of East Africa, with plains, soda lakes, forests, swamps and springs. Most of the larger mammal species are present, including black rhinoceros, elephant, buffalo, hippo, and the lion's pride, including the magnificent black-manned males and leopard. The only notable absentees are giraffes that find the crater rim's precipitous slopes too steep to negotiate. There are a lot of colourful flamingoes and a variety of water birds. Game viewing here is about as easy as it gets.
- Descent through the Ngorongoro forest and have a picnic lunch inside the crater itself. Other game that you can see includes hyena, cheetah, jackal, waterbuck, baboons, antelope family, and small mammals.

Know Before You Go

Tour costs are based on all known costs and rates of exchange at that time; any significant changes beyond the control of Wild Drama will be passed on to clients.

Wild Drama Tanzania Safari also retains the right to alter any arrangements due to local conditions. Wild Drama also retains the right to refuse any person from participating or continuing any tour for any reason or if that person causes or is deemed to cause a hazard and inconvenience to other passengers.

All cancellations must be made in writing to Wild Drama, and all cancellations will be charged a cancellation penalty depending on the number of days before tour departure. Less than 30 days No refund of the land cost. There is no refund of any unused portion of your safari once commenced.

Cancellation penalties on airfare are additional and are not included in the above cancellation charges.

Yellow Fever: All travellers coming into Tanzania from any yellow fever infected country (such as neighbouring countries like Kenya – even if you are only transiting through Nairobi) must carry a valid yellow fever certificate. You will be asked to show it on arrival.

Malaria: Malaria is an endemic disease throughout these areas. There are a number of prophylactics available, and be sure to obtain one from your physician and follow his directions. If, despite taking recommended drugs, you feel unwell and feverish, seek medical advice as soon as possible. If you are already in your destination country, please do not forget to mention that you have been in a malaria zone.

Stomach Upsets: It is advisable to carry medication supplied by your physician for simple stomach upsets. In the first few days of your trip, you may suffer from mild stomach upsets caused by food and water changes.

What To Bring

Informal and casual dress.

Comfortable, lightweight cotton clothing in subdued safari colours is practical.

During the day, shorts or trousers are ideal, and the evenings may be chilly, so light cardigans or sweaters are appropriate.

For clients visiting the Ngorongoro Crater, please note that nights are very cold because of the altitude, so a thick sweater or fleece is advisable.

Long-sleeved shirts and trousers are also advisable in the evenings to lessen the chance of being bitten by mosquitoes. Many safari lodges have swimming pools, so bathing costumes should be taken. It is advisable to have a good pair of closed walking shoes/boots.

We suggest that ladies do not wear shorts in the conservative areas of the city.

At Coastal Resorts - One piece or bikini swimsuits are acceptable on the beach or around your hotel pool but not appropriate in town. Topless sunbathing is prohibited.

We recommend taking a small flashlight.
