Petra Archaeological Park and Monastery Hike
- Arrive at the Petra Visitors Center and meet your guide.
- Walk from the Petra Archaeological Park main gate to the entrance of the Siq, a dramatic rock canal that leads into the city, starting from the Dam and ending at the Treasury. Along the way, pass the Obelisk Tomb and Bab As-Siq Triclinium, a burial complex unique for its Nabataean architecture.
- Continue to the Treasury, also known as Al Khazanah, one of the most elaborate temples in the ancient city of Petra, carved directly into a sandstone rock face.
- Visit the Roman Theatre, a first-century AD Nabataean theatre situated in the center of Petra, much of which was carved out of solid rock. Then see the Royal Tombs, a large burial chamber consisting of a dozen tombs of the Nabataean kings, as well as the Royal Court.
- Stop at the Petra Basin restaurant for lunch.
- Hike to the Monastery, hidden high in the hills and one of the legendary monuments of Petra. It has architecture similar to the Treasury but is much larger in size.
