Day by day

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Dhaka to Dinajpur via Hatikumrul and Mahasthangarh

  • Get picked up from your hotel in Dhaka by your English-speaking tour guide at 7 AM and start for Navaratna Temple at Hatikumrul. This unique archaeological treasure was constructed during the reign of Nawab Murshidkuli Khan (1704-1720 AD).
  • After lunch, you will depart for Behula Lakshindar Basor Ghor.
  • Then, visit Mahasthangarh, the oldest archaeological site in Bangladesh. It dates back to 700 BC and is the earliest urban archaeological site discovered in the country.
  • After exploring Govinda Bhita, transfer to your Dinajpur hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 02

Ramsagar Lake, Kantajew Temple, and Paharpur to Bogra

  • After breakfast at 8 AM, reach Ramsagar National Park and Ramsagar Lake, the biggest excavated pond in Bangladesh. King Ramnath excavated this famous pond during the reign of Nawab Alivardi Khan to alleviate the water scarcity faced by local inhabitants.
  • Next, you will arrive at Kantajew Temple. The most elaborate among the late medieval Hindu temples of Bangladesh, this temple was built by Maharaja Pran Nath in 1752.
  • Then, head over to Nayabad Mosque. This mosque was constructed in 1793 AD during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Alam II.
  • After a delicious lunch, start for the Ruins of the Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur.
  • Visit Somapur Mahavihara, a renowned intellectual centre until its demise in the 12th century AD.
  • By the evening, transfer to your Bogra hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03

Historic Mosques of Naogaon and Chapai Nawabganj

  • After breakfast at 8 AM, depart for Kusumba Mosque at Naogaon. This mosque is one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Bangladesh. According to an inscription, it was constructed by a patron, Sulayman, in 1558 AD during the reign of Ghiyath al-Din Bahadur Shah.
  • After lunch, start for Chhoto Sona Mosque in Chapai Nawabganj. During the reign of Sultan Hossain Shah (1493 AD - 1519 AD), this mosque was built by Wali Muhammad.
  • Next, visit Tohakhana Masjid, located in the Tahkhana Complex.
  • After exploring Darasbari Mosque and Chika Mosque, transfer to a hotel in Rajshahi for an overnight stay.

Day 04

Rajshahi Heritage Sites and Return to Dhaka

  • Have breakfast at 8 AM and visit the Varendra Research Museum. It was the first museum in Bangladesh. This old museum has a rich and ancient collection of almost three thousand artefacts from Paharpur, Mohasthangar, and Mohenjodaro.
  • Next, you will explore the Puthia Temple Complex, where you visit the Shiva Temple, Jagannath Temple, Dol Mandir, the Puthia Rajbari or the Palace of Raja of Puthia, Pancharatna Gobinda Temple, and Bara Ahnik Mandir.
  • After lunch, start for Bagha Mosque. This beautifully decorated mosque is the Shahi (grand) Mosque of Bagha, built by Nasrat Shah, the Sultan of independent Bengal, in 1523-24 AD. The mosque is well known for its depiction on the fifty-taka banknote.
  • By evening, you will start for Dhaka. At approximately 11:00 PM, you will be dropped off at your Dhaka hotel, ending the tour.
