Flyfishing in the Limay River

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in Bariloche and take you on a scenic drive to the Limay River — the most important river in the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Flowing from the eastern end of the vast Nahuel Huapi Lake, just 17 km (11 miles) from the city, the Limay winds through strikingly dry, rocky mesas dotted with pine forests, offering spectacular views and pleasant weather year-round.

Renowned for its rich fish population — primarily rainbow and brown trout, along with some native Patagonian perch — the Limay River provides endless opportunities for anglers. From November to March, dry fly fishing is especially rewarding, and in April, during the final month of the season, large lake trout migrate upstream, creating thrilling fishing conditions.

The river is divided into five distinct sections, each approximately 10 miles long. With its crystal-clear waters, breathtaking landscapes, and world-class fishing, this float trip promises to be a truly unforgettable experience.

Throughout the journey, your expert guide will not only assist you with the best fishing strategies, but also share insights into the region’s history, wildlife, and natural features.

After a morning or afternoon of drifting and casting, you'll reach the riverbank where our team will be waiting to welcome you back and take you comfortably to your hotel.
