Day by day

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Windhoek to Uis via Okahandja and the San Living Museum

  • Pick up from your hotel in Windhoek around 8:30 a.m.
  • Stop at Okahandja for a break and a visit to the woodcraft market.
  • Drive to Omaruru and have lunch at a restaurant (own account).
  • Enter the Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy and drive east through the beautiful rocky mountains.
  • Arrive at the San Living Museum and enjoy a cultural tour.
  • Visit the small town of Uis in the late afternoon, then relax at the lodge.

Day 02

Uis to Palmwag through Damaraland and Twyfelfontein

  • After breakfast, start driving to Damaraland. On the way, you will see Namibia's highest mountain, Brandberg.
  • Drive along the D2612 gravel road and arrive at the Damara Living Museum.
  • Visit the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings to see the ancient art of the San people.
  • Take a lunch break at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge (own account).
  • Proceed to Palmwag, a tourism concession on communal land in northern Namibia.
  • Arrive at the lodge in the afternoon.

You might have a chance to see desert elephants around the lodge.

Day 03

Palmwag to Opuwo and Himba Village Visit

  • After breakfast, start driving to Opuwo, the capital of the Kunene Region.
  • Arrive in Opuwo and have a lunch break at a local restaurant (own account).
  • Check in and leave your luggage at the lodge.
  • Then, visit a Himba village and observe the daily life activities of the local people. Your guide will help you understand their African culture by translating their language.

Drive back to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 04

Dhimba and Herero Village Experiences in Opuwo

  • After breakfast, visit a Dhimba village to gain insight into the lives of the local people.
  • Have lunch at a local restaurant (own account).
  • Visit a Herero village, see their culture, and try wearing Herero dress (upon prior request).

Drive back to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 05

Return from Opuwo to Windhoek

  • After breakfast, start driving back to Windhoek, the capital and largest city of Namibia.
  • Have lunch en route (own account) and arrive in Windhoek in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel.
