Winery Visit, Bodbe Monastery and Signagi

  • Meet your tour guide and a local expert for a visit to a winery. Enjoy sampling Georgian wine. (included)
  • Proceed to the Bodbe Monastery. The Bodbe Monastery is located in the eastern part of Georgia - Kakheti, two kilometres from the city of Sighnaghi, above the Alazani Valley. It was founded at the end of the 4th century, after the death of Saint Nino, Equal-to-the-Apostles, in the place the saint chose as her last refuge.
  • After Nino converted Georgia to Christianity, King Mirian wanted to transfer the body of the great enlightener to the capital, Mtskheta, but two hundred people could not move the remains. The grave of St. Nino became a particularly revered place, and a majestic basilica was built above it.
  • Pay a visit to the city of love, Signagi. Sighnaghi is a small cosy town in eastern Georgia, located on a mountainside in the historical region of Kakheti. The name of the city comes from the Turkic word syknak, meaning a fortified place, a shelter, or a fortification. The city was founded in the 17th century under King Irakli II and, as locals say, it is the only city in Georgia that has completely preserved its walls.
  • The total length of the walls is 4.5 km, and they are connected to 28 watchtowers. The main fortress gates are very beautiful and look like a stone arch. By using the nearby stairs, you can climb the walls, from where you can see the city and the Alazani Valley.
  • Have lunch in Signagi (extra charge).
  • Return to Tbilisi.
