Jerusalem to Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea
Make an early start between 3:45 am and 4:30 am from your accommodation in Jerusalem. Drive for one and a half hours to the Dead Sea area.
Enjoy a walking tour of Masada and take either the short or long route. You may also choose to climb up to Masada at dawn from the eastern Snake Path (optional).
Continue towards Arad, about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Jerusalem, to reach the Roman Camp (optional). You can also enjoy a cable car ride.
Options: breakfast or a snack at Masada or Ein Gedi at Kibbutz Ein Gedi.
Visit Ein Gedi Kibbutz, home to its internationally recognized Botanical Garden. Ein Gedi National Park also includes an ancient synagogue.
Option: visit and swim in David's Fall Pool, or head to the Dead Sea Beach/Dead Sea Spa to float in the Dead Sea and enjoy mud packs and massage.
Option: admire the panoramic views of the desert monastery, Qasr el Yahud - the traditional location of Jesus's baptism by John the Baptist in the Jordan River.
Option: arrive at the Inn of the Good Samaritan, known for its beautiful mosaics from church and synagogue floors of the Byzantine period.
