Kairouan, Sousse and Monastir Discovery
Pick up from the hotel.
Begin with a tour of the country's most sacred city, Kairouan, a powerful trading hub and centre of Islamic scholarship in the 9th century, when the Aghlabid emirs ruled Kairouan and built many of its monuments.
Visit the most famous of them, the Great Mosque of Sidi Oqba, which boasts 400 marble pillars. Located on the edge of the medina, its antique columns and imposing minaret date from this period, and it remains a major pilgrimage site. For Muslims, seven trips here are said to equal one hajj to Mecca.
Continue to Tunisia's third-largest city, Sousse, steeped in centuries of history.
End the tour in Monastir and see the golden-domed Bourguiba Mosque, a Tunisian mosque dedicated to the first president of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba.
