The journey
Embark on an adventurous journey through Madagascar, from Peyrieras Reptile Reserve and the National Gendarmerie Museum to the rainforest of Andasibe, home to the Indri, the biggest lemur in Madagascar. Continue to Antsirabe to enjoy its thermal pools and crater lakes before heading west to the Tsiribihina River for canoeing, birdlife, freshwater pools, waterfalls, and remote riverside camping. The tour also includes a zebu car ride to Antseraraka, a 4WD excursion to Tsingy de Bemaraha, sunset views at the Avenue of the Baobabs, and a return to Tana with time for a city tour before departure.
Spend a full day canoeing while watching the wonderful birdlife, lemurs, and bats, and enjoy swimming in freshwater pools and waterfalls.

After breakfast, meet your tour guide at the designated meeting point and proceed along the RN2 to the east of Tana.
Stop at Peyrieras Reptile Reserve to spot the reptiles of Madagascar. It is an excellent opportunity to get close to these fascinating animals.
Have lunch in Moramanga after a further 40 km of driving.
Visit the National Gendarmerie Museum, where you can see original exhibits related to peacekeeping and criminal acts.
Arrive in Andasibe late in the afternoon and settle into the hotel.
There is an option for a night walk to spot nocturnal lemurs, including some of the smallest lemurs in the world.

Embark on your morning expedition to encounter the Indri, the world's biggest lemur, known for its almost invisible tail.
See other species of lemurs such as the brown lemur, bamboo lemur, and woolly lemur, as well as other animals including chameleons and the giraffe-necked weevil. Andasibe National Park is home to a great variety of wildlife, including 108 species of birds.
Visit the private reserve of Vakoana in the afternoon to watch lemurs from close quarters. This is one of the best places to see them, feed them bananas, and stroke them.

Proceed to Antsirabe, famous for its thermal pools, which are rich in healing properties. The town attracts many locals and tourists because of its cool climate and location. Antsirabe is also the capital of rickshaws and THB, the local beer.
Be sure to enjoy the taste of a true Malagasy beer while you are here.
There is also an option to visit the two crater lakes of Andraikiba and Tritriva. Legend says that two young lovers were forbidden to marry, so they jumped into Tritriva and drowned.

Before heading west, you have the option of visiting a famous crystal factory in Antsirabe.
Drive westwards to Miandrivazo, the hottest town in Madagascar and the starting point of the famous Tsiribihina river descent.
Shop at a great market for things that can be used during the river adventure, such as hats, sunscreen, or clothes.

Spend a full day canoeing while watching the wonderful birdlife, lemurs, and bats, and enjoy swimming in freshwater pools and waterfalls.
You will have the opportunity to try paddling and meet fishermen who may offer fresh fish. Children from the surrounding villages will sometimes follow you along the riverbank.
In the evening, set up camp by the riverside. Enjoy spectacular sunsets, drinks, and snacks while another meal is prepared for you. A campfire, songs, local stories, and laughter will make this river trip an exciting and extraordinary experience in a wildly beautiful and remote setting that is hard to find in the modern world.
Be welcomed by local children saying "Salama Vazaha" (hello, white people), happy to greet visitors even with few possessions.
Cross the Tsiribihina River.
Enjoy a warm campfire.
Arrive at Andadoany village and then continue to Antseraraka in a zebu car.
When you reach Antseraraka, you will stay in a rustic bungalow.
Head to Belon'i Tsiribihina and cross the ferry to reach Bekopaka by 4WD.
Lunch will be at Belo, and dinner will be at Bekopaka.

A 4WD will pick you up to reach Tsingy de Bemaraha, 17 km north of Bekopaka village.
Visit the big Tsingy in the morning and the small one in the afternoon.

Drive back to Morondava, stop at Belo for lunch, cross the ferry again, and continue to Morondava.
Stop at the Sacred Baobab or the Avenue of the Baobabs for sunset photos.
After a great time at the Avenue of the Baobabs, drive the remaining 19 km to Morondava and overnight at one of the proposed hotels:

Before your transfer to Tana International Airport, you will be offered a free city tour, depending on your time. This may include a visit to Lemur's Park, located 23 km west of Tana, or the Queen's Palace, located 18 km north of Tana.
After this, there will be shopping time at La Route Digue on the way to the airport.

The Tsiribihina River is one of the best places to enjoy nature, birdlife, and animals, and to observe how locals go about their daily activities. They are always happy to see visitors passing by.
Each day, you will have lunch in a beautiful spot, and great, healthy meals will be cooked for you.
The Tsingy is also home to several different species of lemurs, such as Decken's Sifaka, Red Fronted Brown Lemur, Grey Mouse Lemur, and Milne Edward's Sportive Lemur. Abundant birdlife includes Coquerel's Coua, Sickle Billed Vanga, White-Headed Vanga, and many kinds of reptiles.
