Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti (Via Ngorongoro)
- Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location and begin the tour. Leave Arusha town and drive towards the Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will pass by a supermarket (if you wish) for some last-minute shopping of any personal effects that you may need.
- Arrive in Serengeti late in the afternoon.
- Proceed to the Lobo area, located just north of the Seronera area (central Serengeti National Park).
- Arrive in the Serengeti in the late afternoon for an evening game drive until evening, when you will check-in at a Camp/lodge, dinner and overnight. Lunch is taken at one of the Picnic sites, most likely at the Naabi Hill Gate, where you will also get the chance to stretch your legs as your guide sorts out the registration and relevant paperwork.
Dinner and overnight at Serengeti (full board). Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
-
Day 2: Full Day Serengeti (Seronera Area)
- Enjoy a full day game drive in the park. The area around Lobo and the Grumeti River has good resident game throughout the year. Spot the non-migrating animals like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard and cheetah.
- Follow game for long periods without seeing other vehicles – truly one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti Plains. Magnificent riverine trees can be found along the river lines, and bird species such as kingfishers and fish eagles can be found here.
Overnight stay at Serengeti. Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
-
Day 3: Serengeti (Central) to Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Area)
- Head towards the far northern reach of the Serengeti National Park, also known as the Wagakuria.
- Go for a game drive en-route from the Lobo area to the Wagakuria area. Head north and enjoy good sightings of giraffe, plain game, herds of buffalo and elephants.
- Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the area after lunch.
- Witness the frantic herds of wildebeest crossing the Mara River.
Overnight stay in Serengeti. Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
-
Day 4: Northern Serengeti (Kogatende) to Serengeti (Central)
- Enjoy a full day game drive in the Wagakuria area.
- Admire this area with its stunning kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Get an option of doing a Hot Air Balloon Ride.
-
Day 5: Serengeti (Central) to Ngorongoro Crater
- Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge in the midafternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in the Masai language. In the central plains, there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah.
- Spot varied bird species including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. See the “big 5” - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here include hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds.
- Have your lunch and continue with a game view in Serengeti heading to the gate of Serengeti to check out of Serengeti National Park; after there, you will proceed with the game on route heading to Ngorongoro Crater.
Dinner and overnight at a Camp or Lodge at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
-
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
- Descend into the crater with a lunch box and enjoy the game drive for more than 7 hours. Ngorongoro Crater helps many species thrive and is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas globally. This is the best place in Tanzania to see critically endangered black rhino.
- Spot a huge population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard crater floor. After a picnic lunch, you will have a game drive.
- Drive back to Arusha/Moshi overnight.
Overnight stay in Arusha. Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
