Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo to Sigiriya
- Arrive at the Colombo International Airport and meet up with your local guide.
- Transfer to Hotel at Sigiriya.
- Climb to the Rock fortress in Sigiriya after a brief relaxing evening. Sigiriya (Lion’s rock) is an ancient rock fortress and palace built during the reign of King Kassapa I (AD 477 – 495). Contemporary with the paintings of Ajantha and Ellora Caves in India, and its highlights being the Frescoes, Mirror Wall and the Lion’s Paw, and it is one of the Seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

Day 2: Sigiriya to Habarana to Polonnaruwa to Sigiriya
- Leave for Polonnaruwa via Habarana. In Habarana, enjoy an elephant ride.
- Go for a sightseeing tour in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa (11th Century AD). Visit the many archaeological and historical sites of the Sacred City, including the Grate Statue, Quadrangle, Royal Palace, Gal Viharaya, Kumara and Lotus Ponds, Thiwanka Image House many more.
- See one of the country’s biggest water reservoirs Parakrama Samudraya.

Day 3: Dambulla to Nalanda to Matale to Kandy
- Leave for Kandy via Dambulla, Nalanda and Matale.
- Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There are 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings, and 4 statues of god and goddess.
- Make your way to Gedige at Nalanda, one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Sri Lanka, enjoy the Spice garden at Matale, and participate in a conducted tour to learn about the growth and use of spices in day-to-day life.

Day 4: Pinnawala to Kandy
- Go for an excursion to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. It is an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants.
- Watch Esala Peraherae in the evening.

Day 5: Kandy
- Tour the city of Kandy, including the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha – by far the most important place of worship for Buddhists the world over.
- Drive along the Upper Lake, a place where one could have a bird’s eye view of the city below.
- Visit the Botanical garden at Peradeniya in the evening. It is the largest botanical garden on the island. It is renowned for collecting various Orchids and has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, more than 5000 spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees attached to it as the National Herbarium.

- Enjoy a whole day relaxing on the Beach.
