This heritage tour with elements of dark tourism tells the story of World War II in Split through a storytelling approach that helps participants better understand the atmosphere of that time. Along the way, you will learn about the causes of the war in this area, the oppressors, the position of Split's citizens, and what ultimately led to the end of the war. The tour places special emphasis on the human aspect, sharing the stories of ordinary people, their fights, struggles, resistance, sacrifices, and losses, while also exploring bomb shelters, hidden heroes, the fate of Split's long-active Jewish community, and wartime damage inside and around Diocletian's Palace. Old photographs of buildings damaged or completely destroyed during the war, courtesy of the Museum of the City of Split archives, are provided throughout the tour.
