12-Day Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek with Sherpa Villages and Everest Views

• Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

• After breakfast, we will depart from the hotel for a full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, known as "The City of Glory". We will visit Durbar (Palace) Square, the epicentre of religious and cultural life, filled with old temples, historical significance, and glorious Newari architecture. Some of the sights include Kal Bhairav, Hanuman Dhoka, Taleju Temple, Kasthamandap, and Kumari Ghar, home to the Living Goddess.
• Afterwards, we will visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest Buddhist stupas in the world, majestically set high on a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley.
• We will then proceed to Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This massive temple complex sits alongside the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Only Hindus are allowed to enter the temple courtyard, while tourists can view the temple from the eastern side of the Bagmati River.
• Later, we will visit Boudhanath, a Buddhist stupa said to be one of the largest in the world. This massive structure stands tall with four pairs of eyes, each facing the four cardinal directions, watching over the righteous behaviour of humanity and human prosperity.

• Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu International Airport to Lukla Airport and begin the trek to Phakding. Descending above farmlands, we will pass through the Sherpa villages of Chheplung, Ghat, Sano, and Thulo Gumela, as well as the shrines and monasteries of Drangdrak Gompa and Pema Choling Gompa, with breathtaking views of the sacred mountain Kumbila and the sister summits of Kusum Kanguru.

• Heading for Namche Bazaar, we will pass through the hamlets of Zamphute and Tok Tok to see dazzling Thamserku glistening in the sun, a mountain that stays with us for most of the trek. Passing through the scenic Sherpa villages of Benkar, Chumoa, and Monjo, we will reach Utche Choling Gompa on a bluff above the Dudhkoshi River and make our way to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• After completing the halfway point to Namche Bazaar, we will continue on the second half of the march, which is likely to take more time due to the steep climb at the end. Crossing through the last village of Jorsale, a steep stepped path leads us to an amazing high bridge over the Dudhkoshi River gorge. Just before this bridge, the Dudhkoshi is joined by its tributary, the Bhote Koshi.
• Beginning the final uphill climb slowly, we will reach the heights above Namche, from where we can catch our first glimpse of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Finally, after about 1.5 km/0.9 mile, we will arrive at Namche Bazaar.

• Namche is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading any further. It is the biggest market situated on the lap of the Khumbu Himal range at an altitude of 3420 meters and is the major regional trading centre, accommodating the headquarters of Everest National Park. This place is the home of the legendary Sherpas. Being in Namche gives us an exciting feeling, full of anticipation about the Himalayas.
• Enjoy a fine walk around the valley to adjust to the thin air of Namche Bazaar, known as the gateway to Everest.
• Visit a museum to see the traditional customs of the Sherpa people. From here, you can also enjoy fine views of Everest and other mountains.

• A good acclimatization walk from Namche Bazaar leads to Everest View Hotel, which stands at an altitude of 3800 m/12540 ft. As the name suggests, the hotel offers good views of Everest, when it is not covered by clouds, and this is generally considered the best view in the surrounding area. It is also the highest-located hotel in the world, which adds an extra treat to the trip.
• After this, we will continue over the hill and reach Khumjung (3970 m), a much more traditional village than the touristy Namche. Sitting at the base of the holy mountain Khumbila, it has many Mani stones and both old and new stupas. It also hosts a well-known Gumba, or monastery, that houses what is said to be a yeti scalp.

• We will descend gradually to the village of Teshinga, after which the trail drops more steeply to the river, crossing it at the small settlement of Phunki Thangkha (3250 m). Climbing steeply, we will enter the forest and continue with a more gradual ascent, passing several mani stones.
• At the saddle of the hill, we will come to Thyangboche at 3867 m. From here, we can enjoy a fantastic panorama of the surrounding mountains, including Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Thyangboche has long been a sacred spot. Lama Sange Dorje, who first brought Buddhism to the region, is said to have flown from his monastery in Tibet over the Himalaya, landing here at Pangboche.
• Visitors should be careful to respect the spirit of this special place. From Thyangboche, we will descend through rhododendron forests to a small bridge crossing the rushing icy waters of the Dudh Kosi. The trail then climbs slowly to Pangboche (3900 m), with stunning views of Ama Dablam ahead.

• Descend back down to the river and climb up to Tengboche for one of our last panoramic views of Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse. The trail then drops down to Phunki Tenga and climbs through Teshinda to Kyanjuma.
• The walk back from here to Namche Bazaar follows a beautiful undulating trail high above the Dudh Kosi.
• Descending through Namche Bazaar, we will follow the Dudh Kosi south through rhododendron and pine forests, passing Jorsale, Monzo, and Benkar to Chaunrikhara.
• Here, we will leave the main trail and climb the short distance to Lukla.

• Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. This is a leisure day that can be used for buying gifts and souvenirs for your friends and family.
• In the evening, you will be invited to join the farewell gathering, review great photos, and share experiences from the trip.
