The itinerary

Day 01

Gondar to Sankaber via Debark

Begin with pickup from Gondar city and drive to Debark.
Obtain a permit from the park headquarters and collect the obligatory scout before beginning the trek at Buytras (Simien Lodge), then reach the Sankaber campsite in 3-4 hours.
During the walk, there is a good chance of spotting gelada baboons.
End at Sankaber (3,250 m above sea level) for the first overnight camp.

Day 02

Sankaber to Gich via Jinbar Waterfall

Begin the 5-7 hour walk to Gich. En route, stop at the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall.
After descending to the Jinbar Wenz, which feeds the waterfall, a short ascent remains to Gich village.
Upon arrival, explore the great mountain views, characterized by giant lobelia plants. The nearby Kedadit summit provides one of the best places to witness the sunset. Overnight stay at Gich.

Day 03

Gich to Ambaras and Return to Gondar

Trek from Gich to the Imet Gogo promontory for one of the most spectacular views in the whole mountain range. This is a great day for seeing the magnificent Lammergeier vultures.
From Imet Gogo, trek back to the road near a village called Ambaras. The trek will last approximately 4-5 hours.
Meet the car for the drive back to Gondar.
