The itinerary

1

Day 01

Gondar to Sankaber via Debark

• Meet your tour guide and depart from Gondar to Debark.
• Upon arrival, meet the scout and drive all the way to Sankaber, or have the car drop you off near Buyit Ras for a short hike. If you choose to hike, enjoy beautiful views of the endless mountain ridges and encounter some gelada baboons.
• Later, arrive at Sankaber for an overnight stay at the camp.

Day 02

Hike from Sankaber to Gich Camp

• From Sankaber, begin hiking along the ridge and look out over the picturesque foothills.
• Descend into the valley and see the Jinbar River plunging into the Gich Abyss.
• Later, arrive at Gich village for your second camp stay.

Day 03

Gich, Imet Gogo, and Kedadit

• Hike through the grass plateau that is home to Giant Lobelia plants. After about 2 hours, reach Imet Gogo for an amazing 360-degree view of the Simien Mountains, including canyons, distant ridges, and lush valleys.
• Return to Gich. En route, stop at Siha Gorge for a lunch break. Later, go for a short sunset hike to Kedadit.
• Overnight at Gich campsite.

Day 04

Gich to Chennek via Innatye

• Start the 7-hour hike to one of the most spectacular passes in the mountains. Descend into a forest of Giant Hazel and pass through the open grasslands.
• After climbing up to Innatye, view the vertical drop and learn why locals named it "Mama Mia".
• Continue walking towards Chennek, where you may see wild animals such as Walia ibex and gelada baboons. Overnight stay in Chennek.

Day 05

Buwahit Peak and Return to Gondar

• Go for a 2-hour hike to Buwahit Peak. Stand on the second-highest peak in the Simien Mountains (4,430 m) and encounter the famous Ethiopian red fox.
• After spending time at the peak, hike back down to Chennek for lunch. Later, transfer to Debark/Gondar.
