Day 01

Moshi or Arusha to Olpopongi Maasai Village

• Meet your local tour guide at 8 am in Moshi or Arusha and drive to Olpopongi in the West Kilimanjaro region, 74 kilometres away. Depending on the season, you may see wild zebras and elephants, along with amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru during the two-hour drive.
• Reach Olpopongi before lunch, where the local Maasai tribe will welcome you with a traditional song and dance.
• Walk around the village and check in to the hut where you will spend the night.
• Proceed to the museum and learn about the Maasai people's local history, social organization, and occupation.
• Later, enjoy a traditional Tanzanian lunch before meeting a midwife and herbalist in one of the Maasai huts.
• Go for a bushwalk and discover various kinds of endemic plants that the tribe uses in daily life.
• End the day with a barbecue and bonfire session near the traditional Maasai huts.
• Drive back to Moshi after the tour ends.
