Bundi to Agra via Chand Baori and Fatehpur Sikri

- Head to Chand Baori, a stepwell built over a thousand years ago in the Abhaneri village of Rajasthan. It is one of the largest stepwells in the world and one of the most beautiful. Chand Baori is not an easy landmark to find, which makes it one of the hidden secrets of India. It is a deep, four-sided well with a large temple on the back face of the structure. The baori consists of 3,500 narrow steps spread across 13 stories. It extends approximately 30 m (100 ft) into the ground, making it one of India's deepest and largest stepwells.
- Continue to Fatehpur Sikri. See how the dynastic architecture of Fatehpur Sikri was modelled on Timurid forms and styles. The city was built on a massive scale, primarily with red sandstone. Its architecture reflects the Hindu and Muslim forms of domestic architecture popular in India at the time. The remarkable preservation of these original spaces allows modern archaeologists to reconstruct scenes of Mughal court life and better understand the hierarchy of the city's royal and noble residents. The site is accessed through gates along the 8-km-long fort wall, namely Delhi Gate, Lal Gate, Agra Gate, Birbal's Gate, Chandanpal Gate, Gwalior Gate, Mehra Gate, Chor Gate, and Ajmeri Gate. It also contains a summer palace and a winter palace for Queen Jodha.
