Day 01

Through the Carpathians to Brasov and Sighisoara

  • The first day will take you through the Carpathian valleys, with stops at the stunning Peles Castle - the former royal summer residence - and Rasnov, a splendid fortified citadel from the 15th century. You will then explore the lovely Old Town of Brasov, a medieval city founded by German colonists in the 13th century, before finishing the day in Sighisoara, one of the most beautiful, best-preserved, and still inhabited medieval citadels in Europe. This is the birthplace of the famous Count Dracula, and you will have the chance to visit his house.

Day 02

Rupea Citadel and UNESCO Fortified Churches

  • During the second day, you will discover Rupea Citadel, one of the oldest and best-conserved medieval sites in Romania, along with other UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit Prejmer, the largest fortified church in southeastern Europe, built by the Teutonic Knights in 1212-1213, or Viscri, one of the most interesting Saxon fortified churches, built around 1100 by the Szekler population and taken over by Saxon colonists in 1185.
