Description
Experience the life of Red Dao, known for their expertise in herbal medicine, especially medicinal baths, and usage of plants from the forest to treat many illnesses in Sapa, a town in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains of northwestern Vietnam. A popular trekking base, it overlooks the terraced rice fields of the Muong Hoa Valley, which is climbable via a steep, multiday guided walk.
Itinerary

Day 1 : Trek from Sapa to Suoi Ho (14 Km)
Begin a 3 km trek from Sapa to Suoi Ho's village, home to the H’mong minority people.
Enjoy stunning views of rice terraces.
Go to Matra village and come across the impressive ruins dating back to the French occupation in the early 1900's.
Stop at the village of Ta Phin and meet both H’mong and Red Dao minorities. Red Dao practice and are experts in the field of herbal medicine. They use many treatments, especially medicinal baths, to know which plants from the forest to use to treat many illnesses.
Have dinner at a house in the village.
Take a herbal bath and homestay in one of the local houses.

Day 2 : Trek from Trung Chai to Sapa (10 km)
Have breakfast and begin the trek to Trung Chai Village, home to the Red Dao and H’mong minorities. Both are famous for their costumes, traditions as well as their own ways of life.
Have lunch at a local's place in Trung Chai,
Head back to Sapa Town.
