Day 01

Priene, Miletus, and Didyma Ancient Cities Tour

At your pickup time, you'll meet your guide and drive to Priene.
Sitting at the foot of a magnificent cliff (Myclet Mountain), the city contains some excellent examples of Hellenistic art and architecture. You'll be amazed to see how perfectly the city was planned, with its main streets crossing at right angles according to the Hippodamian plan.
Your next stop is Miletus, an ancient city near Akköy at the mouth of the Meander River. Once one of the largest cities in Anatolia, it was highly prosperous due to its prominent position on the trade routes. It was also home to renowned philosophers such as Anaximander, Anaximenes, and Thales. You'll be amazed by this megapolis, whose ruins are still standing.
After Miletus, you'll arrive at the world-famous Didyma. Translating to "twins," Didyma was thought to be the place where Apollo, the twin of Artemis, dwelled. Therefore, in the ancient world, the site was considered a major prophecy center dedicated to Apollo, similar to the one in Delphi, Greece.
