This 3-day safari follows Tanzania's northern circuit through Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara National Park. Explore Tarangire's savannah plains, known for spectacular baobab trees and unusually huge herds of elephants, then continue to the Ngorongoro Crater, dubbed 'Africa's Garden of Eden' and home to a diverse range of wildlife including the exceptionally rare black rhino. The journey ends at Lake Manyara, where tranquil game drives reveal tree-climbing lions, diverse birdlife, and breathtaking scenery across rich wildlife habitats.

The itinerary

Day 01

From Arusha to Tarangire's Elephant Herds

Set out from Arusha to Tarangire National Park.
Begin the game drive as soon as you enter the park, continuing until the afternoon. In this theater of the wild, you will come across the unusually huge herds of elephants and the spectacular baobab trees for which this park is famed.
After the game drive, you will be dropped off at your accommodation. Your stay will be arranged at a nice tented camp in the park's vicinity, which offers great views over the plains. However, a stay at a mid-range lodge in Karatu may also be arranged.

Day 02

Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Crater Wildlife

After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is world-famous for the extraordinary range and density of wildlife that can be spotted here at very close range. Think of lions, elephants, leopards, black rhinos, and buffaloes; all of the Big Five can be spotted in this 'Eden of Africa' in one day with a little bit of luck!
After the game drive, you will be dropped off at your accommodation. Choose from a lodge located right at the crater's rim (extra cost) or a mid-range lodge in Karatu, which is a stone's throw away from the main gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 03

Lake Manyara Game Drive and Return to Arusha

On the last day, you will visit the evergreen Lake Manyara National Park, where tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife can be observed. See hippos basking by the lakeside or even some flamingos, and enjoy a game drive in the early afternoon.
After lunch, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Arusha or, at an extra charge, at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
