The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Negombo

  • Pick up from the airport and drive to Negombo.

Stay overnight in Negombo.

Day 02

Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Kandy

  • Start the journey at 7.00 AM to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, which contains huge walls, water canals, security guard rooms, natural stone arches, mirror stones, and the world-famous Sigiri paintings. You will spend more than two and a half hours here.
  • Go to the Dambulla Cave Temple, the largest and best-preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka. The caves were converted into a temple complex by King Walagamba during the 1st century. Spend around one and a half hours covering the entire temple complex.
  • Travel to Kandy and enjoy the Kandyan dancing event in the evening between 5.00 and 6.00 PM.
  • Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. See Lord Buddha's most sacred molar tooth placed in seven golden caskets under a golden ceiling.

Spend the night in Kandy.

Day 03

Pinnawala and Kandy City Tour

  • Get picked up at 7 AM from your hotel. Drive to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
  • Visit the Royal Botanical Garden, covered with colourful flowering plants, herbal plants, endemic plant species, and palm family trees.
  • Head to the viewpoint of Kandy and stay overnight in Kandy.

Day 04

Kelani River Rafting and Nuwara Eliya

  • Travel to Kitulgala and enjoy whitewater rafting. If you are above 10 years of age, you can participate in this exciting rafting experience on the Kelani River at Kitulgala in Sri Lanka. Well-trained and experienced coaches will guide you through the experience. Here, you can cover 5 km of still water and another 5 km of major and minor rapids.
  • In the evening, drive to Nuwara Eliya and stay overnight.

Day 05

Horton Plains and Ella

  • Begin at 5 AM and drive to Horton Plains. It has a 9 km circular walking track that takes more than 03-04 hours to complete. The World's End viewpoint is the most iconic place to see here.
  • Drive to the hotel in Ella. Walk for about 30 minutes towards the train track to see the Nine Arch Bridge. You can also visit Little Adam's Peak, an attractive viewpoint to see sunsets. It takes about one and a half hours for the journey.

Stay overnight in Ella.

Day 06

Ella to Yala Safari and Tissamaharama

  • Drive to Tissamaharama. See the wonderful Rawana Ella waterfall soon after passing Ella. Rawana Ella is the widest fall in Sri Lanka.
  • Join the Yala safari by 1:30 PM. Yala is the second-largest wildlife reserve in Sri Lanka. It contains a higher density of leopard population than many national parks in the world. If you are lucky, you can catch sight of wild leopards.

Stay overnight in Tissamaharama.

Day 07

Tissamaharama to Mirissa

  • Drive to Mirissa. On your way, see Hummanaya Blowhole and visit the turtle hatchery. Hummanaya Blowhole pumps seawater up to 40 feet into the air.

Stay the night in Mirissa.

Day 08

Whale Watching, Stilt Fishing, and Galle Fort

  • Begin the dolphin and whale watching tour at 6.00 AM. Spend 4 hours on this trip.
  • Next, see stilt fishing and drive to the famous Galle Fort, built by the Portuguese and reconstructed during the Dutch period.

Overnight in Hikkaduwa.

Day 09

Hikkaduwa Reefs and Bentota River Safari

  • See the coral reefs and enjoy scuba diving and snorkelling under the supervision of well-experienced professionals. The Hikkaduwa coastal area is most suitable for surfing from November to April.
  • In the evening, enjoy a Madhu riverboat safari. Enjoy a rejuvenating natural fish therapy.

Stay the night at Bentota.

Departure to the Airport
