The itinerary

1
Day 01

Airport Pickup, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, and Sigiriya

You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Here, you can feed the elephants and watch around 80 elephants bathe and play in the Maha Oya River. Afterwards, drive to Sigiriya and spend the night there.

Day 02

Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple, and Kandy

Start the journey at 7:00 a.m. and visit the eighth wonder of the world, which features huge walls, water canals, security guard rooms, natural stone arches, mirror stone, and the world-famous Sigiri paintings. It is an isolated rock kingdom more than 200 m in height. You will need to spend more than two and a half hours here.

Your second destination is the Dambulla Cave Temple, the largest and best-preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka. The caves were converted into a temple complex by King Walagamba during the 1st century. There are about 153 Buddha statues and murals covering 2,100 square meters. You will need around one and a half hours to cover the entire temple complex.

Travel to Kandy, enjoy a Kandyan dancing event in the evening between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Lord Buddha's most sacred molar tooth is placed in seven golden caskets under a golden ceiling. Spend the night in Kandy.

Day 03

Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Tea Country, and Ella

After breakfast, you can visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden. The garden is full of colourful flowering plants, herbal plants, endemic and epidemic plant species, and palm family trees. In all, more than 4,000 varieties can be seen here.

As you travel to Ella, you can witness scenic landscapes and waterfalls along the way. The upland tea estates of Nuwara Eliya are highly remarkable, and massive land areas are dedicated to high-grown upland tea plantations.

Your next stop is Macwoods Tea Factory, where the entire tea-processing method and the tea varieties according to taste and quality are explained. You can also purchase fresh tea products from the factory outlet. Stay in Ella.

Day 04

Sunrise at Lipton Seat and Udawalawa Safari

Begin at 5:00 a.m. and drive to Lipton Seat to catch the sunrise. The path runs along the tea estates, with busy tea pluckers at work in the morning.

Your next destination is Udawalawa National Park, where the safari starts at 2:30 p.m. Here, you can see the natural habitat of more than 250 wild elephants. The Sri Lankan leopard and Sri Lankan sloth bear also inhabit Udawalawa, although they are rarely seen. You can spend 3-4 hours there before driving back to the hotel in Udawalawa.

Day 05

Udawalawa to Mirissa via Hummanaya Blowhole

Drive to Mirissa. On the way, you can see the Hummanaya Blowhole and a turtle hatchery. The Hummanaya Blowhole pumps seawater up to 40 feet through a natural hole between two closely placed rocks and splashes water into the sky. Stay the night in Mirissa.

Day 06

Whale and Dolphin Watching with Beach Activities

The dolphin and whale watching tour begins at 6:00 a.m. and continues for up to four hours. Kayaking, canoeing, banana boat rides, jet skiing, and tube rides are some joyful activities that you can enjoy in the sea. Relax in the evening.

Day 07

Mirissa and Airport Drop-off

There are no itinerary plans for this day, and you will be dropped back at the airport according to your flight departure time.
