3-Day Sri Lanka Nature and Wildlife Tour from Kandy to Unawatuna

You are picked up at 8.00 a.m. from your hotel in Kandy and drive straight to Ambuluwawa, a green hilly area rich in biodiversity. At the top of the mountain stands a human-made viewpoint tower, approximately 48 metres high, offering a 360-degree viewing gallery.

As you travel to Nuwara Eliya, you can witness scenic landscapes and waterfalls along the way. The upland tea estates of Nuwara Eliya are highly remarkable, with massive land areas dedicated to high-grown tea plantations.

Your next stop is the Macwoods tea factory, where the entire tea-making process and the different tea varieties are explained according to taste and quality. You can also purchase fresh tea products from the factory outlet.

The first day's journey pauses at Ella.

The day begins at 5.00 a.m. as you drive straight to Lipton Seat to catch the sunrise from one of the area's highest viewpoints, where five provinces can be seen from one place. The route passes through tea estates, with busy tea pluckers at work in the morning.

Your next destination is Udawalawe National Park, where the safari starts at 2.30 p.m. The park is known for its natural habitat of more than 250 wild elephants. Sri Lankan leopards and Sri Lankan sloth bears also live in Udawalawe, although they are rarely seen. You can spend 3-4 hours here before driving back to your hotel in Udawalawe.

Drive to see the Hummanaya blowhole, which pumps seawater up to 40 feet during the south-west monsoon season. Next, visit the turtle conservation project at Rekawa. Finally, drive back to your hotel in Unawatuna or the nearest beach resort.
