Trek to Ciudad Perdída in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, within the indigenous territories of the Kogis. The "Lost City" was discovered only in 1971 and is believed to have been founded around 800 AD, some 650 years before Machu Pichu. Along the way, enjoy natural landscapes, birdwatching, natural water pools, cascades, and many more vistas.

The itinerary

1

Day 01

Santa Marta Transfer and Trek to El Mamey Camp

• Transfer from Santa Marta to El Mamey, located in the Sierra Nevada, which takes around 3 hours.
• Lunch at El Mamey.
• Start walking the Machete trail, making stops at the numerous waterfalls and natural water pools along the way.
• After 5 hours of uphill trekking, arrive at the first camp, the cabins of Adán or Alfredo.

Day 02

Into Kogui Territory to Paraiso Teyuna

• On this day, enter the indigenous tribes' territory. Wake up at 5:00 AM to the sounds of the Sierra, have a coffee, and enjoy the morning.
• After breakfast, leave for Paraiso Teyuna at 8:00 AM to visit the indigenous Kogui Mutanyl pueblo. The trek lasts 9 hours, covering 6-7 miles.

Day 03

Ciudad Perdída Exploration and Wiwa Cabin Stay

• Receive a wake-up call at 5:15 AM. After breakfast, go up from Paraiso Teyuna for about one hour to Ciudad Perdída. There, explore the archaeological site for about 3 hours with the help of expert guides.
• Descend to Paraiso Teyuna for lunch, then walk to the second Wiwa cabin for an overnight stay.

Day 04

Descend from Ciudad Perdída to Adán or Alfredo

• Walk to the second cabin at Adán or Alfredo, which takes 4-5 hours.
• Tonight, say goodbye to the Sierra Nevada. Hear the stories of the locals and the sounds of nature around you as you go to sleep.

Day 05

Return to El Mamey

• Descend from the cabins of Adán or Alfredo to El Mamey.
