Day 01

Arrival in Accra

  • Upon arrival, meet your tour guide at Kotoka International Airport in Accra and travel in an air-conditioned 4x4 car or minibus, depending on your group size, to explore Accra city as time permits based on your arrival time.

Day 02

Ashanti Craft Villages, Cocoa Farm, and Transfer to Tamale

  • Your outstanding tour kicks off this morning as you wake up to see Africa's sunrise and visit the craft villages around Kumasi, showcasing traditional crafts: Kente weaving at Adanwomase, Adinkra stamping at Ntonso, and carving at Ahwiaa.

  • Visit a cocoa farm to examine Ghana's main cash crop.

Day 03

Tongo Shrine, Rock Formations, and Bolgatanga Market

  • Depart for Tongo to visit the shrine, which is believed to give people good fortune and power.

  • View the region's unique architecture, dramatic granite rock formations, and natural caves.

  • Visit the Bolgatanga local market for further interaction with the people.

Day 04

Sirigu Arts and Paga Crocodile Pond

  • Drive along the 34-kilometre road to Sirigu. Sirigu is known throughout Ghanaian history for its pottery, basket weaving, and unique symbolic wall decorations.

  • Enjoy a guided tour of traditional homes belonging to members of the Sirigu Women Organization for Pottery and Art (SWOPA). You will also have the opportunity to meet the SWOPA women at the gallery.

  • Depart for Paga, where crocodiles are part of the daily life of the people.

Day 05

Navrongo Basilica and Journey to Tumu

  • Head towards Tumu, stopping at Navrongo after about a 30-kilometre drive.

  • Visit the Catholic minor basilica, the first Catholic Church building in northern Ghana since 1903, before continuing to Tumu for the great adventure.

Day 06

Gwollu Slave Walls and Transfer to Wa

  • Depart early to begin the day's tour. After about 32 kilometres on the 'red dusty road,' stop at Gwollu to see the slave walls built in the 18th century by the chief of the area. Gwollu is also the home of Ghana's third President.

Day 07

Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary

  • Visit the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary, where you can see the huge white skull of a hippopotamus. The sanctuary is arguably one of the best wildlife sites in Ghana.

Day 08

Transfer to Mole National Park

  • Depart after breakfast for Mole National Park. See elephants and baboons, plus other smaller animals such as dulcimers.

  • Enjoy the Italian-funded introduction of lions, which you may perhaps see if you are lucky.

Day 09

Mole Safari, Mognori Eco-Village, and Larabanga Mosque

  • Leave for a morning safari at Mole National Park to enjoy outstanding nature and wildlife.

  • Drive for about ten minutes in the afternoon to Mognori Eco-Village for a village walk, drumming and dancing, and a canoe safari.

  • Visit the Larabanga Mosque, built in the Sudanese architectural style in the village of Larabanga, Ghana. It is the oldest mosque in the country and one of the oldest in West Africa, and has been referred to as the "Mecca of West Africa." It has also undergone restoration several times since it was founded in 1421.

Day 10

Mole Safari and Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary

  • Go for a morning safari at Mole National Park, home to Ghana's wildlife.

  • Depart Mole National Park to see the rare species of monkeys in Africa at Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, where the Black and White Colobus monkeys and Mona monkeys are very friendly and easy to see and photograph.

Retire for the day. Overnight at Excelsa Lodge, a standard hotel in Kumasi.

Day 11

Ashanti Heritage Sites and Return to Accra

  • Visit Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene of Asanteman as well as his official residence. It is located in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom in the Ashanti Region, where you will learn about the tradition and culture of the Ashanti Kingdom.

  • Visit Komfo Anokye of the Ashanti Kingdom, the man who commanded the Golden Stool of Asantehene, and explore the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum for the history of the Ashanti Kingdom.

  • Visit the open-air market in the city of Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti.

Kokrobite Beach and Departure

  • Enjoy the popular seafront spot at Kokrobite Beach, which offers golden sand and high-energy nightlife in Ghana.
