6-Day Bale Mountains Trek from Addis Ababa to Tullu Dimtu

• After an early breakfast in Addis Ababa, drive to Bale Mountains National Park.
• Have coffee breaks in Ziway and Shashemene. Between Shashemene and Dinsho, drive through the southeast highlands of Ethiopia. Upon arrival, stop for a rest break and lunch at Dinsho Lodge.
• Afterwards, walk through the park and get a chance to spot some endemic and endangered animals, such as Menilik's Bushbuck, Mountain Nyala, Warthog, Reedbuck, Gerry Duikers, and Baboons, as well as endangered birds such as Black-headed Siskin, Wattled Ibis, and Abyssinian Longclaw.

Stay overnight at Dinsho Lodge, at an altitude of 3000 m above sea level.

• After breakfast, around 8:00, begin the hike between Dinsho and Sodoa.
• On the way, enjoy the spectacular scenery of Bale Mountain and, during the rainy season, Fincha Habera Waterfall. Look out for the endemic Ethiopian Wolf (Key Qebero) and high-altitude endemic birds such as the Blue Winged Goose.
• After arriving at the campsite, have a nice lunch break.

Stay overnight at the Sodota campsite, which sits at 3400 m above sea level.

• After an early morning breakfast, begin the 6-hour hike to the campsite of Kerensa.
• Pass through breathtaking gorges and valleys and the extraordinary viewpoint of the Wasama Valley.
• After arrival, have lunch and a long break.

Stay overnight at Keyrensa campsite, with another unique landscape at 4000 m above sea level.

• The hike to Rafu campsite will take about 6-7 hours and reach about 4100 m above sea level.
• On the way to Rafu campsite, stop at a unique viewpoint for photography, bird watching, and the next long break. With the high altitude and difficulty level, this hike will be a bit more challenging, but you will enjoy an unforgettable trekking experience on Bale Mountain.
• Arrive at Rafu campsite in the late afternoon.

• Start your hike to the Sanetti Plateau Humburi campsite. On the way, experience icy winds blowing from the extensive Sanetti Plateau. Because of the particular area and its cloudy weather, there may be difficulty seeing the scenery.
• Spot the rare Ethiopian wolf once more, along with high-altitude birds and shrubs.

• Trek to the summit of Tullu Dimtu, the 2nd highest point in Ethiopia, at an altitude of 4377 m above sea level, through the Sanetti Plateau.
• Celebrate the victory of reaching the final destination after an arduous, beautiful, and satisfying trek. Enjoy your accomplishment with pride at the top. Overlooking the valleys from the peak is a lovely reward.
• Depart for Addis Ababa.
