Day 01

Arrival in Accra and City Introduction

  • Arrive at Kotoka International Airport (Terminal 3) in Accra.

  • Explore Accra city. An air-conditioned 4x4 car, minibus, or coach bus will be available, depending on your number and time of arrival.

Day 02

Aburi Gardens, Nkrumah Mausoleum, and Accra Markets

  • Wake up to see the sunrise in Accra.

  • Visit the beautiful Aburi Botanical Garden, which has a rich history.

  • Explore the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, containing Nkrumah's mausoleum and a museum that charts his life.

  • Afterwards, go to the National Centre for Culture (the Art Centre) and the National Museum of Ghana, which celebrates Ghanaian culture.

  • Further, stroll around Makola Market to experience the city's vast, colourful bazaar.

Day 03

Black Star Square, Osu Castle, James Town, and Du Bois Centre

  • Start your day at the Eternal Flame of African Liberation, first lit by Nkrumah in Black Star Square, home to the Independence Arch and other monuments of Ghana's freedom.

  • Visit Osu Castle, also known as Fort Christiansborg, located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean's Gulf of Guinea in Accra.

  • Drop by the James Town Lighthouse fishing community, which offers some of the best views over the sea and city.

  • Explore the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture, including the civil rights activist's former home, tomb, and research center.

Day 04

Shai Hills and Ada Foah Discovery

  • Arrive at Shai Hills to see monkeys, kobs, and birds, and learn about the culture of the Shai people, including a visit to a cave where they lived.

  • Further, explore Ada Foah on the southeast coast of Ghana, where the Volta River meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is known for palm-lined beaches and estuary islands. On the seafront are traces of Fort Kongenstein, built by 18th-century Danish traders.

  • Visit a 19th-century missionary cemetery situated next to the old Presbyterian Church.

Day 05

Kakum Canopy Walk, Stingless Bees, and Crocodile Pond

  • Stop by the world-famous Kakum National Park on the coast of southern Ghana, West Africa, and stand on the Canopy Walkway suspended 30 meters above the ground to get an outstanding view of the rainforest from above.

  • Visit the Stingless Bee Centre for an informational session on different kinds of bees, how they work, and the medicinal types of honey they produce.

  • Encounter crocodiles at Hans Cottage and get an opportunity to touch them.

Day 06

Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle

  • Visit Cape Coast Slave Castles, the largest commercial forts built on the Gold Coast of West Africa by European traders. The Swedes originally built them for trade in timber and gold, but they were later used in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

  • See Elmina Castle, erected by the Portuguese in 1482 as São Jorge da Mina Castle - the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea and the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara.

Ankasa Conservation Area and Nini Suhien National Park

  • Reach the Ankasa Conservation Area in southwestern Ghana and visit Nini Suhien National Park in the north and the Ankasa Forest Reserve in the south.

Nzulezo Canoe Adventure and Transfer to Axim

  • The Ankasa Conservation Center is in Ghana's Western Region, about 365 km west of Accra near the border with Côte d'Ivoire, and is known for its magnificent primary Upper Guinea Rainforest with different kinds of monkeys, including the rare chimpanzee, as well as a good number of birds in these tall trees, which form a thick canopy.

  • Nzulezo is located near the village of Beyin, roughly 90 km west of Takoradi, in the Jomoro District of the Western Region of Ghana. Nzulezo overlooks Lake Tadane and is entirely made up of stilts and platforms.

  • Bobowasi Island is 1.8 kilometres from the town of Axim and Axim Castle, north of Watts Rock, east of Egwang Rock, and south of Mansell Hedwig Rock, at the geographic coordinates 04°52′N 02°15′W. There is a lighthouse on the island.

  • Forming the southernmost tip of Ghana, Cape Three Points is located between the coastal village of Dixcove and the town of Princes Town, Ghana. Cape Three Points is the land nearest to a location in the sea at 0 latitudes, 0 longitudes, and 0 altitudes (the distance is about 570 km). It marks the western end of the Gulf of Guinea.
