The itinerary

1
Day 01

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Wildlife Viewing

  • Meet your driver/guide in Kampala at 7:00 am and drive to the western part of the country to Lake Mburo National Park, with stopovers at the drum makers centre called Mpambire and at the Equator for photographs.

  • Reach the park, have lunch at the lodge, and set out for a game drive through the park, where you will catch sight of different animals such as zebras, which are found almost everywhere in the park.

  • Head to the lodge later in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02

Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

  • Begin your journey at 6:30 am after breakfast as you travel to the southwestern part of Bwindi Forest, passing through Mbarara town, which is endowed with beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you will also see various rolling hills with terraces, making this an incredible journey with all these sights.

  • Reach the park, check in at the lodge of your choice, and relax there for the rest of the evening as you get ready for the next day.

Day 03

Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Walk

  • Have breakfast at 6:30 am and transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch, where you will be briefed by the professional park rangers.

  • At 8:00 am, be accompanied by the park rangers as you enter the mist forest to trek mountain gorillas. You might need a walking stick if you are not physically fit enough, and you may also consider using porters to carry your luggage, in which case you will pay them a small amount of money for their labour. Trekking may take between 2 and 8 hours, and once you see and start interacting with the gorillas, only one hour is given to you.

  • Return to the lodge to unwind after trekking.

  • Later in the evening, take a walk through various communities such as the Batwa community, where you will interact with them and learn a lot from them before retiring to the lodge.

Day 04

Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

  • Enjoy your breakfast and then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector, which is home to tree-climbing lions. The park has a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, lions, and many others.

  • Arrive at the lodge, have lunch there, and go for a late afternoon game drive, where you will be able to see the above animals and many more, together with birds.

Day 05

Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

  • Wake up early for breakfast at 6:00 am. You will immediately start the game drive, as being early gives you a chance to see the morning risers like lions, solitary buffaloes, kobs, elephants, and more. It is such a great and exciting time, as you can easily see these animals closely.

  • Head back to the lodge for lunch.

  • Get ready for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which is home to various species, including birds such as malachite kingfishers and pink backed pelicans, as well as animals like crocodiles, elephants, hippos, and many more. Cruising on the Kazinga is one of the most eye-catching activities in the park.

  • Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 06

Morning Game Drive, Baboon Cliffs Visit and Transfer to Kibale

  • Have a delicious breakfast, go for a morning game drive, and also visit the Baboon Cliffs, where you will be introduced to amazing and beautiful scenery.

  • Have lunch at the lodge and embark on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to chimpanzees. The drive takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

  • Arrive in the evening, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 07

Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

  • Have breakfast early on this fantastic day. Leave the lodge for the park headquarters with enough bottled drinking water, where you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking.

  • Embark on trekking through the forest at around 8:00 am, guided by an armed park ranger after the briefing. Nothing is as unique as spending time with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You will also see other primates like golden monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, bushbabies, among others, and you will also spot several birds.

  • Return after trekking and have lunch at the lodge.

  • Go for a walk in the Bigodi Wetland in the afternoon. You will meet different people who stay there and see different birds like the Great Blue Turaco, as well as more primates and animals such as bush pigs, otters, and baboons.

Day 08

Return to Kampala or Entebbe

  • Leave the park after breakfast and drive to Kampala via Mubende, where you will be treated to the beautiful scenic views found in this area.

  • Enjoy lunch in Mubende and thereafter continue to Kampala. Your driver/guide will either drop you at your accommodation facility in Kampala or take you to the airport in Entebbe in case you have your flight back home.
