  • End the day by descending into the rich wilderness of the Trenta Valley and arriving in the small town of Bovec, home to 1700 people, 2 Gothic churches, and one eminently quaint and walkable town centre.

Hiking the Alpe-Adria Trail in Triglav National Park

It is suggested that we stop by the visitor's centre for a more detailed look at the wonders of the Trenta Valley during our hike along the Soča here in Triglav National Park.
  • In the afternoon, we will make our way along the curves and contours of Rombon and Kanin Mountains, covering 23 kilometres of gentle, mostly downhill trails as we return to Bovec.
  • If you do not want to walk all the way back, you can also opt for an on-the-spot, customizable drive back to Bovec, subject to a modest fee.
  • After returning, you can explore the side streets and the café culture of the warm and welcoming Bovec.
5
Day 05

Škocjan Caves, Lipica Stud Farm, and the Istria Coast

  • Drive to the amazing Škocjan Caves, designated by UNESCO as both Cultural and Natural World Heritage treasures. Make sure to carry a jacket or sweater, as the temperature in these caves hovers at a constant 12°C/54°F in drier areas and drops as low as 0°C/32°F near the flowing river waters.
  • Along the 3-kilometre underground path, you will see a world of stalagmites, stalactites, and some incredible karst formations in caverns that culminate in one of the world's largest known underground chambers, followed by a walk across a footbridge 47 meters above the mystical Reka River.
  • After that, head to the world-famous Lipica Stud Farm to embark on a guided tour and learn about these famous, elegant, and lucky Lipizzaner horses.
