The itinerary

1
Day 01

Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park

  • Meet your tour guide at Cresta Sprayview Hotel and drive to see the mighty Victoria Falls.

  • Enjoy a guided tour of the Falls and then drive 100 km south, passing through the coal-mining town of Hwange on your way to Hwange National Park.

  • Rest upon arrival and, after that, explore the game reserve on a game drive, which will be the last activity of the day.

Day 02

Journey to Bulawayo and Historical Museum

  • Have breakfast and depart the game reserve for Bulawayo, which is 300 km away. Bulawayo is the second-largest city in Zimbabwe, best known for its Ndebele-speaking people, and has an estimated population of about 1.5 million.

  • Rest upon arrival and then later visit the Historical Museum in the city.

Day 03

Matopos National Park Exploration

  • Depart for Matopos, which is 50 km away from Bulawayo.

  • Upon arrival, proceed into the national park in a safari vehicle for a combined walk and drive.

  • Go for a picnic lunch during this activity.

  • Afterwards, continue to see the bushman paintings as well as the famous Cecil John Rhodes' grave, which is situated at World's View, where you can catch a glimpse of the panorama of the Matopos with the Mother and Child rocks.

Day 04

Masvingo and Great Zimbabwe Ruins

  • Savour breakfast and head to the Lowveld, formerly known as Fort Victoria until 1980. This is a 350 km drive from Matopos. Masvingo is a city close to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, a national monument from which the name Zimbabwe was derived.

  • Enjoy the afternoon at the ruins, where we explore the history of mainly the Karanga tribe, and you will do a hike to get to the top.

Day 05

Drive to Mountainous Mutare

  • Depart for Mutare, which is approximately 300 km from Masvingo. Mutare is a mountainous area bordering Mozambique.

Day 06

Chinhoyi and the Famous Caves

  • Relish breakfast and then head to Chinhoyi, which is also at least 300 km from Mutare.

  • Visit the Chinhoyi Caves in Chinhoyi, which is a full-day experience.

Day 07

Matusadona National Park Safari

  • Depart from Chinhoyi to one of the best national parks in Zimbabwe, Matusadona National Park. This is a 3-4 hour drive from Chinhoyi. Matusadona National Park is close to the famous Kariba Dam.

  • Experience an afternoon game drive and see large herds of buffalos.

Day 08

Drive to Harare

  • Drive 400 km to Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, after your overnight stay in Matusadona.
