Topola and Kragujevac Heritage Tour

  • Meet your tour guide at the hotel in Serbia and start your tour.

  • See the heart of Serbia and the area whose folklore motifs came to represent the whole country. You will also enjoy beautiful hilly landscapes, which gave this area the nickname "The Tuscany of Serbia."

  • Travel to Topola, the town of Serbia's 19th-century revolution leader Karađorđe. There, you will visit the magnificent mausoleum church of the Karađorđević royal dynasty, the house of King Peter I, and the Royal Winery.

  • Continue the tour towards the city of Kragujevac. The fourth-largest city in Serbia, Kragujevac is a major industrial and revolutionary centre and is home to the great WW2 memorial park "Šumarice."

  • Have a lunch break and then see the birthplace of Serbian industry, a former armour factory complex that takes you back to the time of the Industrial Revolution.

  • Right next to it stands the building of the first Parliament of Serbia, since Kragujevac was the country's capital from 1818 until 1841, during the period of rebellions against the Turks.

  • Check out the former Court complex, built in traditional Balkan style, as well as the first Grammar School in Serbia and the first theatre.

  • By visiting Kragujevac, you will see a typical Serbian city and its people, as Belgrade and Novi Sad are far more cosmopolitan and cannot be considered true representatives of Serbia.
