Kandy to Ambuluwawa Tower and Homestay Experience
Meet your tour guide at your hotel in Kandy and transfer to Ambuluwawa, about an hour away in Gampola. Ambuluwawa is situated 3,567 feet above sea level and is a popular place among travellers for many reasons. Though it does not have any historical value, it has several attractive features that draw visitors. This place was launched as a biodiversity complex in 2006. It is the only isolated mountain in the Central Province and is not covered by any other mountains. For this reason, it is a very good place to enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding area.
You can enjoy wide views here as it is open in every direction. Ambuluwawa can be introduced as the first multi-religious centre and biodiversity complex in Sri Lanka. A small temple, kovil, mosque and church are situated at the peak of this mountain. People from all religions come here. This place is a symbol of harmony and the humanity of the country.
Walk 3 km from the entrance to reach the top. The tower is the main attraction here because of the breathtaking view you get as you reach the summit. Misty, cold wind will surround you and leave you feeling refreshed.
After exploring the site, you will reach a local homestay where you can taste Sri Lankan rice and curry and learn the secrets behind these flavours.
Travel back to the starting point, and on the way back, you will also be able to visit the Bahirawakanda Buddha Statue.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back in Kandy.
