Discover the capital city's popular landmarks, including British architecture and historic monuments, before travelling south to Barisal and onward to the mangrove wilderness. Cruise through forest rivers and canals, watch for spotted deer, crocodiles, Gangetic dolphins, and colourful birds, and enjoy forest hikes and island explorations inside this remarkable ecosystem.

A walk through Badamtala beach (2.5 km) will be a great experience, following the tiger's trail down to the beach and savannah-type grasslands against the backdrop of the deep-covered forest.

The itinerary

Day 01

Dhaka Sightseeing and Overnight Cruise to Barisal

  • At 8 am, we will pick you up from the hotel lobby.

  • We will visit some popular tourist spots in Dhaka:

    • Lalbagh Fort (closed on SUN)

    • Pink Palace and National Museum (closed on THS)

    • Curzon Hall

    • Shahid Minar

    • Dhakeshwari Temple

    • Star Mosque

    • Armenian Church

    • Shakhari Bazar

    • National Parliament Building

  • In the evening, board the steamer for Barisal, in the southern part of Bangladesh, from the Sadarghat riverfront.

  • Overnight stay on board in an AC cabin.

Day 02

Barisal to Mongla and Cruise into Sundarbans

  • Early in the morning, arrive at Barisal and transfer to Mongla.

  • We will board the reserved motor launch and start cruising towards Chandpai Forest Station to obtain the forest permit and 02 armed forest guards.

  • Continue cruising through the rivers Mirgamari, Harintana, Shella, and others. The cruise may take 6-7 hours depending on the tide.

  • During this long cruise, you will pass through different forest islands. You may have the chance to photograph different wild animals such as spotted deer, Rhesus Macaque, colourful birds, especially the large white egrets, White-bellied Sea Eagle, huge crocodiles basking on the shore, or playful diving Gangetic dolphins in the river.

  • Reach Katka Island in the afternoon and anchor the boat for subsequent forest activities.

  • In the evening, if time permits, explore the island on a forest hike to observe wild animals in their own domain.

  • Dinner and overnight stay in the boat's cabin.

Day 03

Wildlife and Forest Activities in Sundarbans

  • Early in the morning, explore the most attractive Jamtala Island, famous for the Royal Bengal Tiger, different wild animals, and birds. Here, you can enjoy canal cruising by small country boat for bird watching.

  • After breakfast, some interesting forest activities will be organized, including climbing a watchtower to observe wild animals and taking an interesting jungle hike through the deep-covered forest for a closer look at wild animals and mangrove vegetation.

  • A walk through Badamtala beach (2.5 km) will be a great experience, following the tiger's trail down to the beach and savannah-type grasslands against the backdrop of the deep-covered forest.

  • Return to the boat and sail for Kachikhali Island (Tiger Point - 2 hours), which is famous for its wildlife habitat and especially for the tiger's domain.

  • In the afternoon, take an adventurous forest hike in the covered forest and broad grasslands, where you can easily observe big herds of spotted deer and wild boar. Catching a glimpse of the burning bright shadow of the Royal Bengal Tiger is a common feature in this tiger reserve.

  • Return to the boat and enjoy dinner.

  • Dinner and overnight stay in the boat's cabin.

Day 04

Kachikhali Canal Cruise and Return to Dhaka

  • Early in the morning, take a boat cruise by small country boat in the famous Kachikhali Khal (canal) to observe colourful birds.

  • Head back to the boat and sail on the return journey towards Mongla by a different route, crossing many rivers, canals, and evergreen forested islands unlike those visited before.

  • Deboard the boat in the afternoon and start for Dhaka by reserved microbus to Maya.

  • We will cross the mighty Padma River by speedboat.

  • Drop-off at your place in Dhaka in the evening.
