Colombo/Negombo - Dambulla - Sigiriya
Get picked up by an air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel and drive to Dambulla first.
Visit Dambulla Cave Temple that was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and it is a World Heritage Site. It is the most impressive and the oldest cave temples in Sri Lanka. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world.
Complete the cave temple visit and stop at a nearby local restaurant for lunch.
Proceed to Sigiriya to climb the 5th-century rock fortress. Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World, this ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is probably the most visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka.
Spend some time exploring the ruined palace of King Kashyapa.
