Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
- Get picked up on this day by the driver guide from your pick-up point in Kampala and embark on a road trip to Western Uganda, heading to the gorilla land of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. This is a long day drive of approximately 10 hours with a lunch stopover en route. Though long, the drive takes you through different landscapes, including tropical rain forests, savannah fields and the terraced hills of Kigezi, famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa.
Dinner and overnight.
-
Day 2: Ishasha Sector - Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by park ranger guides. Depart with picnic lunch boxes to start gorilla trekking - the activity can last up to 4 hours or more as you hike up and down the slopes with dense mist-covered vegetation in search of mountain gorillas. Hence, you will have packed lunch for this activity. This active quest will eventually bring you face-to-face with one of the most sought-after creatures - the mountain gorilla.
Reach the mountain gorillas and spend a full hour observing and learning their behaviour while capturing photos.
Transfer to the Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in the evening.
You may enjoy an evening game drive in the Ishasha sector.
Have dinner and overnight at Enjojo Lodge.
-
Day 3: Kyambura
- After enjoying your breakfast, you will be taken to the Ishasha Sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions, leisurely resting on the branches while keeping a watchful eye on herds of Uganda Kob, their preferred prey. Here, you might have the opportunity to spot some of these fascinating lions. Later, you will proceed to your lodge.
- In the afternoon, embark on a delightful boat cruise along the breathtaking Kazinga Channel. Get up close to observe water-dwelling animals such as hippos, buffalos, crocodiles, and elephants as they bathe along the channel banks. The water banks also teem with various bird species, including the iconic Shoebill, pelicans, and Jacanas.
Conclude your day with a delectable dinner and spend the night at Buffalo Safari Lodge.
-
Day 4: Kalinzu Forest & Kampala
- Have an early morning breakfast and head to Kalinzu Forest for chimpanzee tracking to meet man's closest cousins in the wild. You will be amazed to see these primates as they play, swing on tree branches, fight for food, etc. Embark on an exciting road trip back to Kampala with lunch en route, and be dropped off at your destination in the evening.
