The itinerary

Day 01

Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat, and Sunset on Bakheng Hill

  • The tour begins with a visit to the Angkor Thom temple complex in the morning. See the following attractions with your Siem Reap tour guide:

    • South Gate: the best-preserved part of the complex, it is a grand structure lined with carved faces and figurines.

    • Bayon: a Khmer Buddhist temple believed to have been built around the 12th or 13th century.

    • Baphuon: a three-tiered temple, believed to have been built in the mid-11th century.

    • Royal Palace: built by King Suryavarman I and used continuously from the 11th to the late 16th century AD by the Khmer dynasty.

    • Phimeanakas: a Hindu temple built at the end of the 10th century during the reign of Rajendravarman and completed by Suryavarman I.

    • Elephant's Terrace: this terrace is believed to have been used by Jayavarman VII to view his returning, victorious army.

    • Leper King's Terrace: the terrace of King Dharmaraja.

  • After a break for lunch, proceed to the Angkor Wat temple complex. Take part in the following activities here:

    • Angkor Wat: a Buddhist temple in Cambodia, this is the largest religious site in the world.

    • Sunset on Bakheng Hill: a breathtaking sight as you bring your magical day to a close.

Day 02

Prasat Kravan, Ta Phrom, and East Mebon

After breakfast, set out to spend the day exploring Prasat Kravan, which houses a set of 5 red brick towers. The highlights include:

  • Banteay Kdei: translating to "a citadel of monks' cells," this is an ancient Buddhist temple where monks still pray today.

  • Ta Phrom: this is the modern name given to a 12th-century Bayon temple. Originally, it was known as "Rajavihara," or Monastery of the King.

  • Ta Keo: a temple mountain that is believed to have been the first work in sandstone by the Khmers.

  • Thommanon: a pair of Hindu temples constructed during Suryavarman's reign.

  • Chau Say Tevoda: built in the mid-12th century, this temple is dedicated to the Hindu gods Shiva and Vishnu.

After a break for lunch, proceed to Preah Khan. Head towards:

  • Neak Pean: an artificial island that is home to a small Buddhist temple.

  • Ta Som: a temple built in honour of the Khmer ruler who reigned from 1150 to 1160.

  • East Mebon: a 10th-century temple built during the reign of Rajendravarman.

Day 03

Banteay Srei, Artisans D'Angkor, and Tonle Sap Lake

  • After breakfast, set out to visit the following sites in the morning:

    • Banteay Samre: a Hindu temple built in the classic Angkor Wat style.

    • Banteay Srei: a 10th-century Cambodian temple made in honour of the Hindu god Shiva.

    • Pre Rup: a Hindu temple built in early 961 or 962.

  • After lunch, proceed with the tour to the following sites:

    • Fine Art school (Artisans D'Angkor): set up with the aim of reviving the Cambodian traditional art scene.

    • Floating Village (Tonle Sap Lake): with floating eateries, homes, and a full-fledged market, this village is a popular tourist destination.
