Explore Kaunas Old Town, Pažaislis or Rumšiškės, and IX Fort
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or meet you near Kaunas Castle, where the tour begins.
Begin with a walking tour of Kaunas Old Town. During this tour, you will learn about Kaunas Castle, the Franciscan monasteries, Town Hall, St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral, Thunder House, the longest bridge in the world, and much more.
The second stop will be at Pažaislis Monastery or the Rumšiškės Open-Air Museum. At Pažaislis, you will visit the beautiful monastery built in the baroque style; please note that the monastery is not open on all days of the week, so your visit may depend on that.
The next stop is the Rumšiškės Open-Air Museum, located 22 km outside Kaunas. Here, you will learn about Lithuanian lifestyle in the 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century. You will see how Lithuanian peasants used to live and hear many stories about their traditions.
Stop for lunch in Rumšiškės and try traditional Lithuanian dishes.
The last stop will be the Kaunas IX Fort Museum, located just outside Kaunas, which tells Lithuanian history from the early 20th century, including its darkest period, the Holocaust.
