Elafonisi Pink Sand Beach Escape
Meet your driver at the agreed-upon location in Chania and head to Elafonissi, a place of exceptional natural beauty. Pink sand and a turquoise sea characterize the area of Elafonissos and make it such an exotic place. Little sand islets and the shallow turquoise waters create a setting that, at one point, looks like a lagoon.
Enjoy the views as you approach Elafonissi. The downhill road lets you glimpse the area from afar, where you will see the blue and turquoise colours of the sea, white-sand beaches all around, and cedars scattered throughout the landscape. The pink colour of the sand comes from thousands of seashells that have been crushed into small pieces over hundreds of years.
Continue opposite the beach to Elafonissi Island, which you can easily reach by walking or swimming through the shallow sea. The whole area is protected under the Natura Program, so it is strictly forbidden to take any sand with you.
