6-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Trek via the Marangu Route to Uhuru Peak

• Meet your tour guide at your hotel in Moshi and travel to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.

• After registration at Marangu Gate, begin hiking through the dense forest.

• Spot the local flora and fauna along the way.

• Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

• Have breakfast and start your hike to Horombo Hut at around 8:00 am.

• After about 1 hour, leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path across the open moorlands to Horombo Hut.

• Enjoy views of Kibo summit and Mawenzi.

• Spot giant lobelias and groundsels along the way.

Spend the night at Horombo Hut.

• Have breakfast, then hike up toward Mawenzi Peak to see Zebra Rock.

• Return to Horombo Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

• Have an early morning breakfast and begin the trek.

• Hike onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. The vegetation starts in the upper heathland and then gradually disappears into a desert-like landscape.

• Arrive at Kibo Hut, have dinner, and spend the night there.

• Wake up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

• Hike to the summit through Gilman's Point, located on the crater rim at 5,861 m.

• Continue ascending to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,861 m.

• Take photographs and enjoy the view from the summit.

• Start trekking down to Kibo Hut and rest before proceeding to Horombo Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

• Have an early morning breakfast and begin your hike. A steady descent takes you down through moorland to Mandara Hut, the first stopping place of the Marangu Route.

• Continue descending through lovely, lush forest on a good path to the National Park Gate at Marangu.

• A vehicle will meet you at Marangu village and drive you back to your hotel in Moshi.
