Cycle the Pieniny Mountains and Raft the Dunajec River Gorge
Along the right bank of the Dunajec River, almost entirely on the Slovakian side, runs a cycling route called Pienińska Road. The trail starts in Szczawnica, where visitors are welcomed by a skyline of mountain peaks crowned by the Three Crowns Massif.
After about an hour of cycling, you can see one of the most famous sacred buildings in Pieniny. The Red Monastery is located in St. Anthony's Valley, just 200 metres from the Slovakian rafting harbour. It is not far from Sromowce Niżne, where the two-hour rafting journey on the Dunajec River Gorge begins. This is one of the best ways to reach the centre of Pieniny National Park. The route can be done on rafting boats or in two-person kayaks, so-called canoes, and qualified instructors watch over the safety of participants. The crossing of the Dunajec River Gorge ends in Szczawnica, where visitors can taste the local mineral water and enjoy some of the best ice cream in the Podhale region.
